The Academic Enhancement Programme is designed to promote academic excellence through enhancement of key skills and supportive services for students at all levels of academic performance.
Students will have the opportunity to engage with different speakers who will generally be Heads of Departments or Professors with an excellent insight into their fields. The objective is to present students with a wide variety of information about the qualifications within a discipline, course detail and job prospects with which they can make informed decisions about their future.
The two week enhancement programme is a collaborative effort involving faculty and students with the goal of assisting all students in developing the critical experiences and skills necessary for success in their academic career and beyond.

Programme Delivery and Structure
Week 1 – Portsmouth Programme
The first part of the programme will consist of three full days of academic lessons and a further day at University of St Mark and St John, Portsmouth where students will attend lectures. This will give them the opportunity to improve on their communication and social skills. They will also explore Portsmouth and its history by taking part in an educational tour of the city.
Day 1 – Arrival to Portsmouth
Day 2 – Introduction and Communication
Day 3 – Pronunciation and Conversation
Day 4 – Vocabulary Enhancement
Day 5 – Historical Tour of Portsmouth
Day 6 – University of St Mark and St John Tour and Lecture
Week 2 – London Programme
Held in London, the second week of the programme will focus on further education and career paths. Students will be attending discussions and lectures conducted in both, the University of Cambridge and the University of Cambridge – two of the most significant universities in the world. They will have access to the right tools to shape their future.
Day 7 – Arrival to London and Sight Seeing
Day 8 – Tour of London
Day 9 – Science and Technology Day at the University of Cambridge
Day 10 – Engineering and Mathematics Day at the University of Oxford
Day 11 – Government and Politics Day at the Houses of Parliament and Foreign Office
Day 12 – Sports Day at Arsenal Football Ground and Lord’s Tour
Day 13 – Shopping Trip and Awards Ceremony on Oxford Street
Day 14 – Departure from Heathrow Airport
